Drones

At the End of these 3 introductory paragraphs you will find: Curated reviews for each drone. Ratings averaged out over multiple networks. Pros and cons listed in point-form. Prices rounded up or down (shaved off 9’s), as displayed on Amazon.

Drones, otherwise known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are miniaturized, remote controlled aircraft capable of performing a wide range of actions including surveillance, and the delivery of small packages. Some drones are used more like a toy – performing tricks or other maneuvers for fun. However, there are also very serious alternatives that are both fast, heavy, dangerous and equipped with a much larger tool-set. They can be used for prospecting a piece of land, delivering packages to remote areas or otherwise just fly wherever it’s not safe for a manned aerial vehicle. Some of them even have night vision, heat vision and radar!

Restriction of airspace is a growing concern, along with government regulation of drones. However, depending on where you’re from – as long as your not around a population dense area or otherwise sensitive location you can pretty much fly them around wherever you want. Rules are still pretty lax, even for public events a lot of the time, although that is changing. In the future, a lot regulation will probably depend on how high you are in the atmosphere, i.e. altitude.

Aside from just being fun to fly around, the market for commercial drones is slated to increase by a compound annual growth rate of 17.8 between 2018 and 2027. Along with a new market will come new and interesting job opportunities for those who already have experience piloting drones, so why not stay ahead of the game?
