How may we establish a new technological infrastructure that restores the original philosophy of the internet? Freedom of Information and equivalent access to communication. How do we restore the philosophy of the original decentralized internet from the early 1990s-2000s. Furthermore how do we do so in a way that still allows for emerging technology to become well integrated with an open source style? There are methods for crowd-sourced development of computer languages, sequences of code etc that already exist in which you could utilize for this.
They would act as a pretty good starting point for transitioning toward a new internet 3.0 that is capable of decentralizing information storage throughout a network of cross referencing computer nodes. Ideally you’d want them to be quantum cryptographically secured as well. That would be done for privacy’s sake, so that none of the individual computer users can read all of the information contained therein but nonetheless aid in the cross-validation of informational integrity across the entirety of the network.
A democratically elected chain of non-AI based smart contracts should be able to maintain enough operational integrity throughout the decentralized economy. You can imagine for example a good way to mitigate the potential threat of quantum artificial super intelligence, aside from biofortification in superhumanist philosophy, is to create a way that you can democratically elect sequences of code into the algorithmic structure of decision making itself. As well as a way to remove them by virtue of a similar input. In that way it is not “machine learning” or “deep learning” but a mutually constructed form of collective logic.
You can imagine a decentralized court system whereby an individual explains the purpose of a particular contribution of code and then we follow up with a polling feature to decide if it will be implemented. That would be an alternative form of algorithmic construction that shouldn’t be able to “get away” from us as easily as quantum artificial super-intelligence. Emerging organizations such as Ethereum, Aragon and the Internet Computer resemble this alternative in their own unique way. Under that protocol it would be collectively up to humankind what makes it into the algorithmic process of logic automation. Which would likely be much safer then it being designed plainly for profit.
Decentralized autonomous organizations are the swiss army knife of the future. They could be utilized for whatever purpose desired, by any organization – whether corporate or governmental. The main difference being that a DAO is capable of automating the bureaucratic process of contract fulfillment, which cuts out a lot of overhead. Furthermore we need not even mention AI nor include it in the process at all. We could stick with smart contracts on the Ethereum Blockchain for example. We could also utilize a decentralized court system like the one being tested with Aragon for the purposes of electing sequences of code that aren’t necessarily AI but instead are an outcomes-based agreement between members of a participating community.
For example once a contractor finishes their job they submit evidence of their work which is equivalent to a particular quantity and then that smart contract is capable of referencing the quantity of work in order to release the pre-agreed amount of funds to the contractor. In that way you are removing unnecessary forms of bureaucracy from the process entirely. Ideally this should to be coupled with a re-education plan for employees who rely on bureaucracy for their livelihood. We have to make it very clear that this form of technology is not necessarily opposed to the current infrastructure in fact it can help enhance bureaucracy and make it far more effective. It is ultimately just an improvement of the medium of informational exchange.
The only way that it may be destructive to people who are currently in power is if there are not willing to assume a similar level of entrepreneurial risk that individuals with far less are. This is actually the nature of entrepreneurial dynamics in general. Often times when there is a new form of technology that emerges to combat corruption a bunch entrepreneurs will create a divergent burst of corporate innovation that is pretty much the opposite of of a monopoly for example… then over time they are swept up and consolidated again until you have something like a triopoly. Hopefully it will never reach a monopoly and you’re able to see another entrepreneurial burst of innovation before it’s too late. However, in general this process repeats itself over and over again in human history.
The point being that this entrepreneurial psychological type will likely either push the line until they fail or leave at some point once the organization has reached stability/become corrupt. That’s usually when it is filled with more conservative types that are perhaps not as fueled by ideal but nonetheless capable of maintaining stability as long as nothing unexpected happens. However it is this process of continuous experimentation by individuals with far less that allows for the establishment of a new infrastructure during times of great transformation. In this way I believe a decentralized smart contract based system of exchange is exactly where we are heading toward in the next entrepreneurial burst.
I believe a democratically elected process of code sequencing will eventually emerge as an alternative to the looming threat of quantum artificial super intelligence from a technocratic monopoly. In this way you might imagine entire countries that eventually come to rely on mutually triangulated forms of democratic polling on the decentralized blockchain of Web 3.0.
An important point is that it would not make leadership irrelevant. You would still require people who are capable of communication for the purposes of motivating participating members to vote upon a constituent policy. In that way it is possibly more equivalent to a direct/representative democracy hybrid. Although it is far more like direct democracy then our current solely representative democratic model. This form of direct democracy on the decentralized blockchain enabled by an elected coded chain of smart contracts may allow for automation of voluntary exchange to commence in a way that is not subject to the whims of an artificial super intelligence.
However it will likely not arrive without significant resistance from the current triopoly of technological corporations that rely entirely on capitalist forms of artificial intelligence for much of their economic model. In this way a decentralized web 3.0 may restore the original philosophy of the internet and allow for voluntary exchange of information that is still nonetheless highly advanced in its technological sophistication but not subject to the whims of triopoly. Furthermore there is no reason why new computers cant also be made if it comes down to it. Ideally they should be constructed with attention paid to emerging technology such as quantum computation.
In the future if people eventually require some form of democratically-elected artificial super-intelligence to compete with the triopoly then they’ll probably do it. However it would have to be designed from the ground up so that code is elected into place by humanity. That would be done in order to mitigate the chances that it may become corrupt in some manner. Either way they should still remain hyper vigilant as to the evolving nature of that AI throughout time which should then plug right back into discussion, debate and voting – leading to a recurring feedback loop of collective modulation within that computer language that is more akin to direct democracy then our current system.
With that being said I cannot mention the potential of democratically elected AI without mentioning the importance of super-humanist philosophy as a compensatory measure to prevent AI from taking over. Solely focusing on AI without proper enhancement of the underlying biological reservoir of life force energy contained within humanity will bring along with it significant drawbacks. This is why we should utilize super humanist strategies that are meant to counteract the evolutionary mismatch associated with over-reliance on technology by enhancing human potential simultaneously. That may include a health 3.0 integrated form of geomagnetic biofeedback technology which can help people align their heart and brain with the earths electromagnetic field for example.
